THE MYTH

Arachne's Last Weave

In Lydia, Arachne wove so finely that people said her work rivalled the goddess Athena’s own. Athena accepted the challenge; two looms were set side by side. The cloth Arachne produced was so flawless that even the goddess could find no fault in it — and that perfection is what enraged her. Athena turned Arachne into a spider, condemned to weave forever, but now on a thread too fine for anyone to see.

The Dantelle set turns that punishment into an offering. The openwork lace pattern traced across each piece is hand-engraved in our atelier; during investment casting, the wax model is first shaped to carry that same fineness, then set in a refractory mould before stainless steel is poured in at high heat. The resulting surface breaks light the way lace does.

The board is cut from a single block of marble, each set carrying its own grain. The pieces are weighted to be felt in the hand; the lacework reveals itself up close and resolves into an elegant silhouette from a distance — as fine as Arachne’s thread, but this time, meant to be seen forever.
