Wine, Quickly, Through the Ship
In the Homeric Hymn, Dionysos is taken aboard a ship by pirates who do not see what they have. They try to bind him; the ropes fall away. Then vines climb the mast, grape clusters drop from the rigging, and wine begins to spread quickly through the ship. The pirates leap overboard in terror and turn into dolphins. The god reveals himself when he chooses; before that, he waits at the edge of the table.
The Dionysos bottle stopper carries that waiting. Vines and small grape clusters are worked into the chalice form; the surface is hand-finished, so light is held rather than scattered. Each piece is made in our Istanbul atelier by investment casting, the same lineage as ancient bronze, only the metal is modern. The inner seal is food-grade and replaceable; it keeps wine away from air.
Three finishes, black, metallic grey, polished grey, are offered. When the bottle is open the figure stands on its custom glass base, and the table holds a presence that was not there a moment before.
